When people ride together it benefits all of us by reducing traffic congestion and air pollution while easing the stress on ourselves, our communities and our infrastructure. Considering the fact that a 10% increase in ridesharing decreases congestion delays by 50%, everyone would start getting around a bit more quickly if we all shared a ride every once in a while.

NuRide is the nation's first ride network that rewards people for sharing rides.

Notes from Cynthia

During the discussion group held this past summer for "An Inconvenient Truth" several participants expressed the desire for a way to coordinate ride sharing. During my research of the topic I learned of the NuRide program. It is federally funded and has received a considerable amount of press and acclaim. So rather than re-invent the wheel and write a script that would allow UUFP members to coordinate rides, I brought the NuRide information before the Social Concerns Committee.

I have contacted NuRide and they do support and allow non-profit organizations to join. However, each member of the organization must have an organizational email address. We are currently looking into the feasibility and desirability of this.
