Agenda Items

Dead of Summer

Jerry's Dead of Summer was well received and well attended.

Fall Retreat

Let's do Saturday Dinner again with less rice and beans. More desert. Donna will figure out who is doing the retreat and confirm when.

Bay Days

A sign-up sheet exists. Sandra will e-mail out volunteer information and get voter registration forms. Donna will print copies of the Flame. Christine Woods will bring a voter registration banner. Sandra has posters of UUA ads from GA. Mason will check with Lauren regarding Welcoming Congregation materials.

10-11 Oct in Chapel Hill and 2 Nov in Richmond. Chapel Hill will have an expanded program on safety.

Welcoming Congregation

Jackie Ream is preparing a submittal to the UUA.

Justice Sunday

29 March is the date. Mason will see if the UUA has a topic picked.

Peninsula Peace Project

PPP is considering a Peace Forum at CNU if we can get a few professors to cooperate. Jerry has written to one professor, but hasn't heard back. Vigils held twice a month at Warwick & Main have gotten attendance from 3 to 9 people. Vigils are held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 11:30-12:30. Monthly meeting are on the 2nd Wednesday at the UUFP.

People United

Pam will forward info regarding holding a forum on immigration in October.

PORT

No notes.

Smithfield Salon

The last topic was global warming. November will probably be the next one.

Fund Raising

Sandra and Donna will present to the Policy Board regarding various things other congregations are doing that they learned about at GA. One of these will be about dedicating the Sunday plate cash to social justice issues.

Lost Boys

Pam spoke to Julie Hill regarding pledge reminders. Given the devaluation of the dollar more money may be requested from donors.

Interfaith Alliance

Don brought pamphlets from the Interfaith Alliance regarding religion and politics. He is requesting more copies that may arrive in time for Bay Days.

Duco

An effort is being made that seems to duplicate LINK's efforts. Don will contact Jeff Hinkley to learn more about Duco's overall relationship to LINK. URL: http://duco1973.org/ Next Meeting: Monday, 22 Sep 2008 at 7pm.
