    1. Hampton Bay Days went well.
    2. Table for Out in the Park - this slipped through the cracks. Getting more lead time on events and making sure a lead person is appointed were discussed as remedies.
    3. Oct 15th update - Jason Robinson has agreed to speak. Jerry confirmed that the kids are working on an 8-9 minute skit with two acts. It was agreed that the SCC would host the hospitality table as well. Donna and Jerry volunteered to provide snacks.

    1. Donna reported her meeting with David Walsh was productive and beneficial.
    2. Donna presented SCC flier and it was unanimously approved.
    3. Donna suggested that the current events be sent to the Flame and the Order of Service for inclusion.
    4. It was agreed that the new content from the flier be added to the SCC website along with individual pages for events and topics of concern, and a page for links to other sites. It was also requested that UUSJ newsletters be linked.

 Monday October 23, 2006 7pm - Drive to get moratorium on death penalty. We are providing physical space for activist speakers and hosting a pot luck.

    2. Pam will call Nan to confirm that they do not need kitchen that evening.
    3. The need for child care was raised.

The budget was brought up in regard to the Out in the Park discussion. The committee has a budget of $200. Jacquie agreed to solicit more funds when necessary.

 It was proposed and agreed upon that the SCC will engage in SCC awareness on the 3rd Sunday of each month starting November 19. Current ideas for achieving this goal are:
    1. SCC members wear flower on their lapel. Christine offered to make paper flowers.
    2. What concerns yoUU insert to be included in UUFP order of service.
    3. Suggestion/Concern box/survey be set on personed table.

  1. Nick offered insight on Joys and Concerns candle lighting. It was agreed that when an SCC member is touched/fired-up by a social concern on a broader scale that it would be appropriate to light a candle and briefly explain the concern and what people can do about it.
  2. Jerry urged the committee to light a chalice during the SCC meetings. This was unanimously agreed upon.
  3. Green Sanctuary
It was agreed to coordinate with Gwydion to see what the SCC might do to help promote/achieve a green sanctuary.

Nick offered insight on Joys and Concerns candle lighting. It was agreed that when an SCC member is touched/fired-up by a social concern on a broader scale that it would be appropriate to light a candle and briefly explain the concern and what people can do about it.

Meeting Minutes of UUFP Social Concerns Committee

Nick Boke, Pam Tenney, Jerry Tenney, Christopher Hicks, Cynthia Manuel, Christine Moseby, Donna Sprock, Jacquie Ream, Mason Moseley.

The meeting was chaired by Pam Tenney. Cynthia Manuel acted as Secretary.

Review of the previous meeting minutes and presentation of agenda.

Review Minutes

By Laws: The Social Concerns committee (SCC) is not in the UUFP by laws. Pam will go to the board to get the Social Concerns committee included. Donna Sprock will assist.
